Though there are no college degrees for being a private detective, few subjects can help you in acquiring this job. A degree in criminal justice can genuinely help your career as a private investigator as there you get to learn about the criminal behavior and criminal activities. There are few agencies that offer private investigator training and these training programs can help you to acquire the needed skills. Another important requirement involves having a clean criminal record. Any company can check your background and if it is not clean, if you would not get hired.

A private investigator has lot of duties and one might be required to follow and keep a track of the suspect, participate in raids and manhunts, prepare and maintain records of a criminal or a suspect, testify as a witness and several such duties. A private investigator need to posses great communication skills and if you think you have it in you, then only go for it. You also need to be tech savvy as this job requires the use of internet and the likes to find useful information.

Getting a private investigator license is also important. While some countries allow you to work without a license, many do not. Work can take you to different places with different legal formalities and hence, acquiring a private investigator license is a must to avoid any kind of troubles.
